Possible Case Study: Freelance Sites
Posted By: Daniel @ BloggingUnited.com on October 22, 2008 at 8:38 amHey everyone, I have lately been thinking of doing a case stufy on freelance sites. How this will work is a set up a load of methods on a few freelance sites and see which responds cheapest/fastest and with the best work. Now, what they may need to do is build a particular software, build a new sites for me, write a sales letter and so on. Basically stuff I want to have done, but can’t due to the fact that I have too much school work at the moment.
This post is simply stating some freelance sites and what I think of them from past experience and so on. This is labeled as a possible case study as I am not sure if it will get the go ahead, that will depend on you; my readers! Ok, I’ll get started now and if you do want me to go ahead with this make sure to comment.
Introduction To Freelance Sites
As I said above, people on freelance sites, (freelancers) are their to do work in return for money. They will do anything they think they are capable of doing. They are hired by people with less time, people who are looking for more workers on a set fee and even business’ some times. This helps as business’ do not need to employ a new position and can just get the work done for a set fee by someone who knows the field quite well. Someone who likes like field they are working in, will produce good work. Now, you need to find a freelancer but that isn’t all that easy if you don’t know where to look, below I am going to post a bit on a few freelance sites.
- Guru - Guru started out and still is one of the biggest freelance supporters. They are like an online job site where over 600,000 people go to look for an online job. Guru is very easy to pass through as they are set out quite well and the categories are easy to follow. Probably my favourite freelance supporter for the easy usage and good members.
- Elance - Very similar to Guru and not much more too offer. They are set out the same way and provide the same things. For both the freelancer must pass a series of tests in order to become a freelancer. They are giving real details so you can be sure most of the time you won’t be scammed. However, people have been and of course it does happen
- RentACoder- This started off as a site just offering coders for hire. It has however developed a little more into software developers, programs, designers and more. This is probably one of the best places to look if you are looking to get a fresh websites design, in clean code.
Personally they are my top three that I have tried and heard good reviews about. Now, one thing I would like to mention is that freelance sites are not only good for people looking to find online jobs; they are also a great way to get a job if you specialize in a particular field. Often you see people on sites like Digitalpoint writing articles for a few dollars, when idealistically they could be making at least $10-$20 an article rather then $1-3. This is a great way to start working from home and once you build enough client base and portfolio you will start realling in the money.
Anyway, I will get into the above a little more as time goes on, but first I would like to hear what you guys think. I am going to give you all three options, check them out in the poll below and make your decision by voting, if you would like to add more feel free to comment as well.

Hey Daniel,
I think it would be pretty interesting to see something like this in work. I was thinking of voting for the “It’s too hard” idea, but I think it would be great to see what you made trying this out in a case study. How long are you going to leave this voting open for until you decide?
Thanks
