First of all welcome to the last method (for now
) in the Website Flipping Explained guides. This one is on mastering Adsense and although one of the hardest, it can make you some good return profit. Good luck and read on!
What is Adsense?
In this step I am going to explain to you what Adsense is. If you already know this, feel free to continue on to the next step. Adsense is an ad agency created by the people at Google. It is designed in a way that you can put the ads any website that is within their rules; in return you get paid something. You can have either banner, text, search or link ads showing. Whenever a visitor comes by and clicks on one of your ads, you get paid. That can be $0.01 or $10 it all depends on the place the visitor is and your niche, the product/text your site is concentrating on.
You can sign-up to Google Adsense at www.google.com/adsense if you haven’t done so already. They require you to have a website or blog with a sufficient amount of content to be accepted. If you don’t have a blog, head over to Blogger and create one for yourself.
If you decide to register your own domain you can head over to Godaddy, Namecheap or any other domain register and register your own .com domain. You will need to put Wordpress on your site if you do this. You can download it from the Wordpress main site and follow instructions to install. I recommend you get a host that has Cpannel as it makes the job a whole lot easier.
Step 1: How to start You need to start off by writing some quality content. By now I am guessing you have your blog set-up and ready to go. For some people the writing part is very easy and flows easily. For others it is harder and they sometimes struggle. If you are one of those people, feel free to head over to Ezine Articles – In the search box on the site, (not the google one, the ezine articles one) type in the topic you want your blog to be about. Say we take “ipods” for example.
At this current moment the number that shows up is 1,641 for ipod articles. They range from specific brands, to where to find cheap ones, to even what the Ipod itself is. So how does this help you? Easy, when you are writing the content up for your site, you can use these as examples and simply change the wording around to make it your own unique work. With all the articles available it is quite easy to have ten articles up on your site in less than two hours.
Another option is to use Yahoo Answers – http://answers.yahoo.com – If there is information you want to add but you can’t find it on ezine articles, chances are that you will find it on yahoo answers. If all fails you always have the option of searching on Google to find the answer. Below you can see the topics you have to choose from, if you are needing help feel free to use them!
- Making Money Online
- Weight Loss
- Quit Smoking
- Credit and Credit Repair
- Weight Gain and Building Muscles
- Running a Home Business
- Training Pets
- Learning Techniques such as Memory, Speed Reading
- Learning a Language
- Relationships and Divorce
- Gaming eg. Runescape, World of Warcraft
- Law ~ Pays Well

You are then going to need to use a free keyword research tool
https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal
http://www.webmaster-toolkit.com/keyword-research-tool.shtml http://freekeywords.wordtracker.com
Once you have opened up one of the above free keyword tools, all you need to do is search a few keywords that you are concentrating on. Now once again I will use Ipod as an example, all you have to do is type it in, fill in the bot confirmation box and hit search. Now using the third option of the three sites I have shown you, you can see the most frequently searched term and how many times it has been searched. Ipod comes in at number 1, with 11k searches a month.
Go down, you can see ipod accessories in there too. That shows people are looking for that sort of stuff, you write about it and make it unique, chances are your site could be found in a top 10 google position with some SEO, (good keywords, etc). Go back to Google search engine and type in the term. If there are no sponsored links, you have come across and untouched market, good!
I know a lot of people will like to write about topics they like. If they have some pretty good search results, why not! Now often the topics we wish to talk about are either completely packed or not what people will be searching. If you can find one that you like and people search then use it.
Another option is to create your site about a topic that is hot at the current moment. To see what topics are in, you can use the tools below.
- Use Google trends to see what people are searching the most
- Yahoo Buzz is similar to Google Trends but even more specific. You can find more targeted topics this way
- Study which Digg stories are making the front page
- Del.icio.us is a social bookmarking site. Such as stumbleupon or Reddit, use it to see what pages are most looked at.
Step 2: Adsense Ad Positioning
The positioning of your ads is vital, a bad position and you will get a little amount of clicks. Now according to research a person when landing on a page generally looks to the left top corner at the logo, then the headline and then down the right hand side. This is quite unknown why it happens but perhaps it is because when a search results shows up the most accurate results are often on the left hand side.
What we will need to do is place the ads up the top and down the right side. As you already now know you will get more clicks doing that hence more money for you.
This is also a great idea because users generally think that the ads are part of the navigation and blindly click. You also need to make your ads appear as if they are naturally meant to be there. You can change the colours, etc. Make sure you don’t change the background colour of the ads though as this will automatically look different.
Adsense itself has some very good ad tracking tools, even on the main page after you have logged in it shows you which ads have been clicked the most hence which are doing the best. Now looking at this you should be able to work out where to put the ads so you can maximize the most.
Below are some tips to help increase your ad earnings.
- Use ads that are generating the most money for people, 336×280 ads seems to be doing well and bringing in the most money. So why should you do this? Easy, you are doing that because they are bringing in the most money, why use ads that aren’t bringing in that much?
- Move the Adsense ads from the bottom to the top, you don’t want to be hiding the ads as they are making you the money. Put them in a place where people will see them the quickest. You will be amazed with the difference in clicks and results you are getting!
The above are just some tips that have helped some successful people in making money in Adsense (including me). You must understand that it is important to show ads that are of interest to people, if they want to see them, show them! Stick to the one niche and your ads will be more accurate and pay more.
Now be wary that you can indeed be banned by Google Adsense. Hidden text such as text of the same colour as the background or too small to read will get you into some trouble. The ads have to be able to be seen and cannot rely on accidental clicking because the user cannot see them.
Auto submitting is a no-no as well, if your site is already in that search engine, don’t try and submit it again for whatever reason, this is a reason to avoid those auto submitting programs. Having content identical to other sites will get you banned too. Try to make your content different and as unique as possible.
Step 3: SEO Tricks
To get targeted traffic on the long run you need to optimize your site for search engines. You don’t need to go into all the advanced stuff, just the simple quick things you can do to succeed in getting better ranks.
- Add Meta tags to your site, check below for what I mean
<META NAME=”description” CONTENT=”xxxDescriptionxxx”>
<META NAME=”keywords” CONTENT=”xxxxx,xxxxx,xxxxx”>
META NAME=”robots” CONTENT=”FOLLOW,INDEX”>
- xxxDescriptionxxx – Simply replace that with a description of what is on that page xxxxx, xxxxx, xxxxx
– Replace the x’s with keywords you want to appear in search engines - The keywords should relate to the main words on that page.
Create lots of keyword rich content pages. Each page should have the Meta tags along with the adsense ads on them, ad some auto updating content from feeds, search engines like that.
Use social book marking sites to get some traffic, Reddit, Digg, Del.Ici.Ous and Stumble upon are all good. Follow the instructions on there pages and you’re away. For a longer term traffic effect you could submit your articles to ezine articles or go articles. Just write an article related to your sites nice, submit it with the attached website name to it. Even if you submit your daily posting you can expect some good traffic to build up.
